I built a plugin for Excel that lets you sync Excel tables and monday boards.
I think a solution that offers 2-way sync between Excel and monday elegantly solves many of the issues listed in this thread.
It makes it easy to move existing Excel data into monday, but also to use Excel functionality for analyzing and editing Monday.com boards (flash fill, find&replace, graphs etc…).
You can also use it to back up boards into Excel files, which have versioning built in (if on one drive).

It’s been in testing and preview (free for use) for a few months, but it’s a paid product now. The subscription does start with a free trial period, though.
Any update on this? I have just moved an excel sheet to Monday.com and I regularly have to update mulitple rows with different data eg dates, IDs etc. I need to be able to copy and paste large amounts of data into both columns and/or rows
We solved a similar problem to one of our customers,
We specialize in making custom made solution for Monday integration.
We can offer some free Monday solution like the CSV file extract and more.
I will be happy to assist you with this issue and see maybe one of our in dev or free solution can fix your problem.
It should be possible to export the board, make changes to the data and be able to reimport the changes based on a non-changing column. It make it so difficult to adjust large amounts of data and Monday keeps giving error messages when I select even 100 items to change at once. It wouldn’t need to handle all column types in the beginning but how is this not even on the roadmap?
I am starting to working in Monday.com platform and seems that this basic thing was not yet implemented; I am struggling with 100+ items in a cell, starting to wonder our colleague that have 1k to update.
Will Monday.com developers finally arrive with a solution?
I do believe an intern would already thought on this essential daily basis action…
Hi everyone! Amy here from the monday.com team Thank you so much for your feedback around this feature, we really appreciate you taking the time to let us know what’s important to you!
At this time, this feature isn’t on our long-term roadmap, as we’re currently focused on other high-impact priorities that are further along in development. That said, we’ll continue to evaluate this as we plan ahead.
We’re always listening, and we’ll make sure to share any updates here if anything changes!
It is outrageous that monday is so far behind it’s competitors with this gap in functionality. It is an incredible amount of time my organisation has spent trying to workaround this glaring failing.
Are there other feature requests that are similar that can be pooled? I only found this sad one from years ago Grid editor for items
I recommend against using monday.com to anyone that i can, with this missing basic functionality being one of the main reasons, alongside others. If businesses have a choice they should choose one of many available products that allows in-table editing. It is outrageous that monday is so far behind it’s competitors with this gap in functionality. It is an incredible amount of time my organisation has spent trying to workaround this glaring failing.
Seems like no one is solving this and I am facing this same issue for a while now let me know if anyone is interested I’ll send the link the app is still not live it’s in beta right now
Well what I do is I downloaded the monday.com file and I edit everything in Excel. When the Boss wants my monday.com updated. I just re upload again. Just needed always the copy paste in any column. so my problem is solve.
Here’s the link to install the app I was testing it with a few users who DMed me. It’s free for now (currently under review). I tested the app, and it’s very fast copies 2,000 items in just a few seconds. This is a feature I badly wanted for myself.
Now you can copy and paste any specific column really fast. Enjoy and save some time!
