Copy values from one column to another in the same board

I have a column in our Accounts board that contains a series of ID numbers that was previously used by an integrated app (AutoID). We have replaced this App with a Workflow to generate ID numbers for Accounts.

As a one-off task, I need to copy these values from the AutoID column into the new workflow column.

Can anyone advise how to do this?

@chull Hi, welcome to the community :waving_hand:

You can handle this as a one-off using another workflow in monday.com. The easiest approach is to add a small helper column (for example, a Status) to trigger the workflow.

Set the workflow to check if the new workflow ID column is empty, and if so, copy the value from the old AutoID column into the new column. Once everything is copied over and verified, you can remove the helper column and disable the workflow.

This keeps it clean, controlled, and avoids any manual copying. Hope this helps!

Hello @chull You can handle this with a quick one time copy.

If both columns are on the same board, switch to Table view, select the full AutoID column, copy it, then select the first cell in the new workflow column and paste. monday.com will paste values row by row as long as the column types are compatible. Text or Numbers works best.

If needed, temporarily change the new column’s type before pasting, then switch it back after.

You can also create a temporary workflow to copy values from one column to another using a manual trigger, then delete the workflow once done.
