Create Sprint Board and Bug Board from template with connections between them

Hello,

I’m having trouble creating a simple template for my setup.
For each new project in our company we create a Sprint board and a Bug board.
The sprint board will have a connect-boards (two-way) column to the bug board
Both in the item and in the subitem.
The bug board will then have 2 columns, Process column(item connect-column) and a sub-process column(subitem connect-column).
I tried creating a template for the bug board and a template for the sprint board and I used the bug board template inside the sprint board template and setup the connections but it doesn’t seem to work, when I use the template to create both boards they are not connected between them, and they keep a connection to the template for some reason.

Please help me figure out how to create these two boards with a connection between them without manually creating the connections for each new project

This is definitely doable!

It all depends on how you’re setting up your items and sub-items on both boards. If you’re creating the items at the same time on both boards, you can set up an automation in Monday.com. The automation would work like this:

  • Trigger: When an item is created on one board.
  • Action: Create an item in the other board and connect the two boards.

However, for connecting sub-items, Monday.com doesn’t offer a direct automation for that. You’d need to use a third-party tool like Make.com to make it happen.

Now, if you’re planning to create items on both boards first and then connect them afterward, you’d need to establish the connection based on a similar column that can be matched to link the two. Again, you’d need a third-party tool to get this done.

I see,
So I’ll keep creating the 2 connect columns manually every time I need to create another sprint board with bugs board, that’s make it tedious.
At first I was thrilled about the bugs board, but it seems like a hassle.

Ty for your response.
