Download table view to excel or google sheets?

We use Monday as our source of truth. However some things we have in here we need to export specific elements from an item to a CSV to upload to another software for deployment. It needs a very specific format and no other data in the row.

I could always run it from a make.com type thing to build but I can build a table view with just that info- can I export just a prebuilt board view?

Hi @Josh , by ‘specific elements’ do you mean specific columns? If so, just hide off the columns you don’t need and save that as a new view. In the top right … menu, you can export the board (the active view) to excel. Depends what software you are importing this data to, because it might be more efficient to use an integration in monday (for example if it was Jira, you can make automations to trigger monday to update Jira at a column > Jira field level) or if not, then Zapier, Make.com etc would work too. Ideally you wouldn’t want to be manually exporting data and manually importing it again if you can avoid it, I think personally.

@jpelrman87, the best thing I’ve found is using a system like make.com. We usually operate make.com with google sheets when integrating with other apps or software’s. Monday only lets you export the full main board view.

If you need any help on integrating Make and Monday, I’m happy to offer a hand, just let me know.

So if I make a board with different views aligned it’ll export that exact view with everything hidden on that board?

Make won’t work for us on this one as it’s info we need to deploy into Microsoft intune

We have sub items that have various user name, groups, licenses, etc that need to be uploaded to intune so trying to find the easiest way to output that formatted the proper way for intune

Hi @jpelrman87

If you are okay in using third party apps, you might want to give our Spreadsheet Gorilla app a try for your use case.

You basically create a spreadsheet template where you map your board columns (from one or multiple boards) to your “spreadsheet” columns, while you only keep the columns you actually need in your CSV. Then you can manually export the template as CSV at anytime and import it into Microsoft Intune.

Tip: Subitems are handled like a separate board, so if your board name is “Licenses”, the board you are looking for in the app is called “Subitems of Licenses”.

Though it’s not an automated process, but maybe it helps.

Here is a video in which Simon demonstrates the steps, it’s a bit outdated regarding the app’s user interface:

Let me know what you think.

Hi @jpelrman87 , that’s correct. I just double checked. The active view you’re on when you export will export just as you see it. You’ll need to remove the first 4 rows as it has the header board title, log, description etc.

Thanks this is a super infrequent thing we need to do so to pay for a third party app doesn’t seem like the best use of money unfortunately all these apps have made Monday really expensive.
