Hi!
Is it possible to insert sub-items through an import from Excel?
Hi @AleRun
Unfortunately the import doesn’t currently allow for directly importing into subitems.
You could import all of your data as main level items and then manually convert the subitems after import.
You can do this from the menu next to the item name:
Could that work for you instead?
I hope this helps! Remember to mark as solved if this answers your question
Best,
Dani
I’m curious, did you try this? Did it work? I’m working on something similar as well
We’d be happy to help with any issues you’re running into with this!
Could you let us know a little more about what you’re working on so that we can best assist?
Best,
Dani

Thank you for your suggestion.
I haven’t tried the functionality but I understand that with this method I should do an import and conversion for each main item to associate its own sub items.
Hi. This suggestion is not useful if our sub-item column headings are different to the main level (which mine are!!) Is this option going to be available any time soon? Thanks
@Dani, exactly what Sara said. Any way this can be a feature that can be added to the subitem roadmap Subitems Product Plan ?
Hey there @sara.light & @michelle.casanova
You’re correct that if the structure of the subitems differs from that of the main level items, this wouldn’t be successful as a workaround.
I can definitely appreciate how this would be a useful addition to the platform for yourself, and I’m sure for other teams too, so I would highly recommend opening a thread in our Feature Request section.
Here other users who would also like this added to the platform will be able to upvote the feature!
You can find this here: Submit an Idea - monday Community Forum
Our roadmaps and development schedules are ultimately decided by our product teams and are subject to change. That said, we do try our best to take into account which features are most in demand by our users and prioritise accordingly. Creating a feature request is a great way for our developers to gauge the demand for this feature!
Best,
Dani
@Dani I have already started a thread of my own. How many people need to post on this to get it in the roadmap?
I’m afraid there isn’t a specific threshold or number to get this added to the roadmap.
Our roadmaps are decided by the relevant product team based on a number of different factors, including demand from users.
Our teams do review the feature feedback and we really value our users requests and do our best to add these to roadmaps alongside planned new development.
Ultimately our roadmaps are highly subject to change, but I do want to assure you that the team are aware and we are always trying to optimize the platform to suit our users needs.
Hi @Dani, is there a way to see the priority of such requests?
Hi, I would also love something like this.
We have several hundred projects milestones that we link to a master excel sheet, then import to Monday. However, it causes us to have an extremely wide side-scroller sheet which is unwieldy. In an ideal world, the import feature would be able to locate the Item Name, then any matching column of that Item Name with a Subitem.
Would be even better if this information could then be mirrored onto other boards with a matching Item Name in the same format.
Even MORE better, if I could then mirror just one date (Goods Ready, in my example) to the parent, for quick visibility of our most important milestone. At the moment, I can only mirror an entire range of dates.
Hi Dani and Monday.com Team, how is it going?
Any news on an expected date or predictability/forecasting on when we will have this feature?
I’m dealing with the same problem/necessity of this thread, and other threads with the same context.
