Is a 1-way connection between boards possible?

I would like to create a board which contains a set of Long Text items - essentially a database of possible answers.

Then in my main board I would like to create a drop-down column which lets me select one of the items in the “database.”

I believe this can be done by connecting the boards; however, I do not want to sync these. In other words, after I choose a drop-down selection, if I decide to edit it, I do not want that edit to flow back to the original “database” board.

Is this posible?

@rkaplan you can have Ia 1-way connection between monday.com boards using VLOOKUP - and by creating a repository board with a pre made answers (long text) and a status column that matches each answer.
