Is it possible to use the Email column as the email address for sending out notifications?

Hi, I am just picking this up now as I am also having the problems mentioned previously. We want to update people that have completed the form when status changes but the problem with adding an external email account like gmail or outlook is the email will be coming from that email address and in our case it might get messy with people replying to an unmanned email account (as cannot integrate our exchange emails as yet).

Just keeping it on the radar in case this is still being looked at as it would certainly help us to send Monday.com emails to people not subscribed to the board. Thanks

I’m voicing my vote for integrating emails from mirrored columns into integrations as well.

This is massively limiting, especially while Monday.com is pushing so hard to make Monday.com a CRM.

I can use this as a CRM, but if I take advantage of the customer database via linked boards, I am massively limited in my ability to do much of anything beyond the basic features within Monday. IE, no integrations :frowning:

I think Monday doesn’t want that because it would mean we no longer use the People column which is linked to a paying user. But honnestly, Monday devs, multiple users can already connect to monday with the same email, so people already have a way to go around that the One-email one-person login. So forcing a complete monthly payment for a simple notification email is a bit much in my book. You would have much more people using the notifications if you would let us notify to custom email addresses. Workflows create usage and usage can be monetised, not the number of users. There are other ways to make us pay for features / amount of actions, I think the « seats » system is a failed one because automation and notifications are at the core of what people expect from Monday right out of the box. That’s my personal opinion.

Yes, I too am voicing support (and need) for automated email via forms functionality. We need to be able to do the following:

  • Send an automated confirmation email of form data submitted (1st contact by any external user).
For us, this would be via website. (i.e submitting support tickets, contact us, research requests, sales or press inquiries, etc.)

  • Send an automated response email when the status of their request/inquiry/support ticket changes (i.e. your ticket has been assigned, here is a link to the demo you requested, your research is now complete! Click here for the results, etc.)

  • Send different automated responses based upon logic of selection in the form. (i.e. user wants to demo products ABC, and XYZ, out of form selection options: ABC, DEF, GHI, JKL, MNO, and XYZ. User received pre-scripted email response with links to those demo products, and ONLY those products, as opposed to all products. vs. Current Inefficient Workflow: Website using 3rd party form that provides logic based automated email responses. Form data is emailed to website Admin, who forwards email to Sales Team, who manually enters into Monday Sales Lead board for further follow-up. Task assigned to operator, follows-up as workload allows, composes external email to client. Goes back to Monday and updates task item often forgetting to enter/add unique details to further future sales goals. )

Is this still not possible?

Yes, I too am in need of this functionality. I am trying to use Monday as a tracking/informing system for COVID and I need to send letters to people who are not a part of my direct organization (think Unions presidents) and who are not nor will not be connected to Monday ever.

I need to be able to automate an email to the Union Reps when someone submits a form and selects the appropriate union representative.

Hi @lauralev, Can you tell me if there is any progress on this? I’m also looking for a solution to automate sending e-mails based on a e-mail column.

Thanks!

Marvin

It’s hard to believe that this is something that people have been asking for for 3 years now. This does not seem like a niche application. I will ask, even though it’s probably a no, has there been any progress on this?

Hi everyone! We apologise for the delay in updating this thread and recognise it has been a significant amount of time since last updated - we are improving our response processes in the forum so appreciate your patience with us  I just wanted to jump in and mention that from my understanding of this feature request, it is now supported in the platform - the ability to send automated emails to the email column:

Let me know if I have misunderstood!

Hello @jdavies-IDD

Check out EasyMails where you can use board columns as a dynamic data for mail.
