In our company we do weekly reviews of our project. Each project is presented by the project lead using a dashboard as an overview of the project status. We used to make these dashboards in Excel and have recently switched to Monday.com. There is one item that was easy to represent in Excel, but I find difficulties implementing it in an elegant way on Monday.
We call this item ‘traffic lights’. In Excel, it looked like this:
I have temporarily implemented it in Monday as shown below. My issues with this implementation: it takes up a lot of space and it is less straightforward to read than the Excel version.
Would our Kanban widget work better for you here? This way you can break the cards up into the colours with each specific item listed beneath the relevant colour.
At this time, transparently, I do believe the cards widget might be the best widget to use to format this in your desired way. Whilst you could track the status of items in a chart or battery widget, I don’t believe that this is the clearest, most organised approach to view the items clearly…
I will certainly share your feedback and comments with the responsible team internally Joren
Unfortunately this is the issue I was referencing… I am afraid the labels do not display in the chart as you’d hope. I will be sharing this feedback internally as I do agree that a combination of both would be a great solution Sorry for the setback Joren!
Joren, we had a similar type of reporting where we like to use simple “traffic lights”. And we faced a similar issue in how to show this in Monday.com. We recently engaged with Monday.com on a Services project where one of their Consultants created a model dashboard, that shows the green, yellow, red status of various Items and Subitems. this was a pretty complex project as the ultimate fix was about a 95% automated Doc, which embedded a table with the traffic lights. I don’t want to share names of people we worked with, but perhaps Bianca or another Monday.com person can connect the dots, reach out to our Acct Rep and I share those details.
Hi Scott, thanks for your input. The fact that you got something similar working on Monday.com is very encouraging!
If the Monday.com team allready put in the effort to create this exact type of model dashboard, I would be very interested to know more about it.
@BiancaT let me know how I can share more details either with you or Joren in private. Only suggesting in private as I don’t want to share names publicly without any notice or approval.
Our account also has need of this exact type of model dashboard. I asked monday.com Support yesterday and a rep is following up on what potential solutions could be offered. I will share the results of the monday.com Support individual’s follow up.
Hi Scott, as possible, if you were to also share more details in private with myself along with Joren once Bianca responds, our account would be most grateful to learn how you were able to make the traffic light model dashboard!
@joren.claessens - I recommend you add this on as a feature request in the Community, too. You can do that via the ‘+ Start a discussion’ button - just be sure to associate with the “Feature Requests” category.
Scott, you can share additional details with me and Tyler via the private message feature in the community and I am happy to investigate internally for you
