Visualization of exact times

Hi. I’m trying to use Monday.com to plan a multi-day conference. I thought I could use the Date column to plan the timing of sessions on each day. For example, this session would be 27 May at 9am lasting 45 minutes.

Sure, I can put that data into the table, but then I was hoping for a Timeline-style visualization where I could see how the program laid out by time.

Does anybody have any idea how I can visualize a potential schedule down to the minute? Thanks.

Put in each event as a row with a time/date column. Then use the gannt view?

Thanks and good guess but it looks like Gantt only works in days and not down to times. All of my sessions were just thrown on the same day.

More guesses, please!

Hm… Not sure, let me ask my fellow ‘ambassador’ group if they have ideas!

Thanks. I wonder how people do it when they want to granularly track tasks that are time related and go in order… like project mgmt, events, or even sprint planning where person A has to do these hours of work before other work.

One of them said “It’s a little bit messy but you could use a Kanban and have a status column for session days. Then the sessions on that day would order by time.”

Thanks for trying! Sounds like the workaround of the workaround. I’m surprised Monday doesn’t have something in place that visualizes exact times or work by hours.

If you haven’t already, I’d put that in as a feature request. I think it would be a great thing to have!

Hi @deltacx,

If you’re open to marketplace apps, there’s at least one of Calendar Plus’s customers that uses it to do exactly that: plan a multi-day conference.

Here’s how they use it:

  • Use start and end date columns (eg. start 7 Feb 2pm, end 7 Feb 4pm) to display time blocks in the calendar
  • Week and day view, using 5-15 minute granularity to capture the detailed planning of ~45-minute events
  • Calendar pinned to the particular week the conference is in so the calendar opens to the right week every time
  • Use colours to differentiate tracks
  • Display more information about each item on the event (room, speaker, etc.)

Not an actual conference, but to give an idea:

Install Calendar Plus

Thanks, that seems like a good option. Though it also seems like something Monday could/should add. How do I put it in officially as a suggestion?

That’s good to hear!

There’s a feature request you can vote on here: https://community.monday.com/t/start-and-end-time-in-date-column/369 I imagine will have a lot of downstream impact on the calendar, timeline, etc. in terms of features.
