We have recently gained access to the Capacity Manager and Resource Planner features. After testing the features and reading the article monday has (https://support.monday.com/hc/en-us/articles/24114492777618-Resource-management-for-Enterprise), I am struggling to see what the benefits are over Workload view. On one hand, we can establish job positions, skills, and dependencies between other projects. However, it requires you to manually input resource needs into the Resource Planner and the project board, as the Resource Planner does not take inputs from the project on tasks assigned to a person, their timelines, or required effort.
If you have a portfolio tracking all projects, Workload allows you to set each user’s capacity overall for projects, will show days off on the assigned schedule (I believe), and automatically pulls effort and timeline data from each project board. This requires far less effort for almost the same output.
My belief in the new resource planning features was that we would be able to actually project out timelines for tasks across multiple projects and adjust those timelines in an easier manner. However, it appears it is just a warning indicator and still requires a lot of manual effort, possibly moreso than before. Does anyone have any advice on projecting timelines and managing resources better using these tools?
