Export Board to include SubItems

Usecase: Subitems are used to track multiple telecom inventory disconnect requests and billing disputes per location. As part of the process, we need to gather all Telecom provided tracking numbers across their multiple systems including forked requests. The forked requests are out of our control and creates a Many to One relationship that SubItems is perfect for.

Without the ability to export SubItems, we have to either manually retype everything in the Exported Spreadsheet or figure out a work around.

Thanks!

There seems to be a bug on the Time Tracking summary of the Subitems.

When I try to show the Subitems Time Tracking hours it’s showing a different value. Even if I use either {Subitems Time Tracking#Hours} or {Subitems Time Tracking} the value is so large.

I agree with #1 and #2 it would be beneficial to see the main pulse name for the notifications.

I do not use the app that often, only when really necessary and I am away from my desk so I cannot speak to #3.

One of the biggest asks for our company as well is to be able to drag an email pulse into a subitem. This is something we have struggled with since starting to use Monday. We need to have a way to drag an email pulse that gets sent to the main board into an existing item without emailing that specific item. This is causing a major snag for us and a duplication of work. We were hopeful subitems would solve this problem but sadly no. If we had this ability we would utilize Monday so much more.

I second the need for Column Summaries for the sub items. I would like to use the columns to calculate a sum and allow for the use of currency.

I believe I am reading the comments correctly and I don’t know that this feature exists. There really needs to be a roll up of subtask status so that one can see where the task status actually is. Does this feature exist?

Hi Monday Team! Great work on the subitems features.

Any news on when ‘‘Converting items into subitems and vice versa’’ will be ready? Is it still on track for sometime in Q4 2020?

Thanks!

Agree - we desperately need this to manage client changes in design projects!!

1&2 are totally doable now. Unique ID is a column type you can add and if you click on the total at the bottom of the column you can assign units

I’ve recently noticed that adding a new subitem to a list of subitems automatically places it in the 3rd row as opposed to at the bottom row, is there a way of changing this so that the newest subitems always appear below the older ones?

Hey Chris, I see this post is quite old, but I thought I’d mention that we have the same use case, and we have set up custom automations to auto create subitems when items move from 1 stage to another. The same would work on item creation. Perhaps you have moved on or already figured this out, but I found it super helpful to auto create subitems. Hope it helps!

Cheers!

I Second the feature request to be able to filter by the subitem columns. - something like:

  • filter by subitem column
  • if filter matches show parent item and subitems where criteria matches.

Item card different for subitem and parent item. We like the item card and use it quite a lot. But if i design a item card for the parent, this item card is visible in the subitem but not wiht the columns of the parent but the subitem. It does not have much sense to have for example an item card called “customer details” that refferes to the parent and show data of the subitem that does not have information of customer. Will appreciate different item cards. or at least if i choose to see the item card designed for the parent to have the data from the parent.

I would LOVE this feature in subitems! I often need to update many subitems at once and being able to “shift + select” them would save me sooo much clicking. Please make this possible!

Thanks for this tip @timlittletech! I just created an automation to do this upon item creation. Would be great to have as a standard option but the workaround is good.

Has there been a roadmap published or a suggestion to the need to have sub-items have the same columns as the parent items? I am looking to create groups and need to be able to convert my items to subitems but don’t want to lose the data in my column setup and prefer not to have to recreate the whole thing.

Hi all!

We sincerely apologise for the delay in responding to this thread! We are working on improving our responsiveness to the community, particularly our feature request process so appreciate your patience in advance!

On that note, we did just want to mention that some of the feature requests here are now supported:

  • Mirroring subitem data into the parent item:

  • Filtering by subitems is supported in our advanced filtering
  • Bulk selecting subitems is supported by selecting shift and clicking the first and last subitem!

As for maintaining expanded/collapsed view of subitems we encourage you to cast your vote to the primary thread here Expand subitems as default view and please do the same for the request to have subitems inherent parent item data - Subitem inherit column values from Parent - #5 by cerkezi - we plan on closing out this thread, so we have all the votes in one place to better prioritise these feature requests based upon the total amount of votes

Thank you!

Hi @BiancaT

It’s been over two years - is there any update? I only ask because the topic is marked as “solved” and voting is closed.

Hey @Robert.Mauro - we are really sorry about this! The feature request was accidentally marked as solved, however should now be open for our community members to continue voting. As for an update, the feature request is currently under consideration and whilst it’s not immediately planned due to other priorities and team capacity, the team certainly agrees there is a need for this :+1:

Bianca, please consider moving this feature up in the priority list. Our teams are wasting a tremendous amount of time having to click to open up all the subitems every time they open up our Project Workspace. Thanks.
